Karin Ahl

CEO

Before being appointed CEO of Netnod, Karin spent two years as Head of Netnod Time and Frequency where she oversaw the expansion of Netnod’s time services for public and commercial use.

Karin has more than 20 years of experience in the fixed telecom network industry and has significant expertise with policy-related topics both in Sweden and on a European level. Prior to Netnod, Karin’s roles included: President of FTTH Council Europe, an industry association focused on advancing full fibre-based connectivity to the whole of Europe; Head of Sales and Marketing for the Technology and Infrastructure specialist Rala AB; and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Swedish Local Fibre Alliance. 

Karin holds a Master of Social and Political Science degree from the University of Linköping.

Miguel Alktun

Global Account Manager, Business Development - DNS & Netnod Time

Miguel Alktun joined Netnod in February 2017. He has a degree in Business Administration from the University of Stockholm and over 25 years experience working in the technology industry.

Letterio "Leo" Bernava

Global Interconnection Relations Manager

Leo joined Netnod in December 2020. He is responsible for building and developing relations with Netnod’s international customers. 

Prior to joining Netnod, Leo worked for 9 years in the telecom industry. His roles at C-sam AB and Telia Company were focused on building customer relations.

Baziyan “Basse” Safari

Baziyan “Basse” Safari

Interconnection Relations Manager

Basse joined Netnod in December 2020. Prior to joining Netnod, Basse worked in sales and account management roles at Cygate, GleSYS and Baffin Bay Networks. With his work at Pro Optix, he developed relationships with many of the networks interconnecting in the Nordics.  At Netnod his focus is on interconnection customers present in Sweden and Netnod’s IX Reach product.

Patrik "paf" Fältström

Head of Security

Patrik joined Netnod in 2012. He holds a Master of Science degree in Mathematics from Stockholm University and is a member of The Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences.

Previously, Patrik was a Distinguished Consulting Engineer at Cisco, Technical Specialist at Tele2, Systems Manager at the Royal Institute of Technology, Researcher at Bunyip Information Systems in Montréal and a Programmer in the Royal Swedish Navy. He has been working with UNIX since 1985, DNS since 1987, and been involved in Internet-related standardisation since 1989 — both in Sweden and worldwide. Patrik is an editor of standards for Internationalized Domain Names (IDN) and E.164 number mapping in DNS (ENUM), both standards of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) where he has also worked with Directory Services and Information naming and retrieval mechanisms. He was also one of two area directors of the IETF applications area for five years, followed by being a member of the Internet Architecture Board (IAB) for three years. He served as a member of the Internet Society (ISOC) Board of Trustees from 2006 to 2009.

Patrik has been an active participant in Internet governance issues at the global level. In the late 1990s he was a member of the gTLD Policy Oversight Committee, a process that helped form the foundation for the Internet Cooperation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). He was involved in the creation of the Internet Governance Forum in the United Nations, where he also served for three years as a member of the Multistakeholder Advisory Group and then advisor to the Chair for two years. He was an appointed advisor to the Swedish IT Minister between 2003 and 2014, a member of the ICANN Security and Stability Committee since 2005 and its chair 2011-2017. In 2014 he was appointed to the Research Advisory Network of the Global Commission of Internet Governance. From 2014-2016 he was vice-chair of the IANA Stewardship Transition Coordination Group (ICG). Since World Conference on International Telecommunication (WCIT) 2012 he has been participating in the preparation of the Swedish view in International Telecommunication Union (ITU) related issues.

He is or has been a member of numerous other advisory groups and investigations related to Internet and Internet Governance during the years, both public and private sector, including ICANN, Packet Clearing House, Telio, HotSIP, Scrive, Wire, Yubico, Swedish Regulator PTS, Arelion (when it was Telia International Carrier), Tele2, Internetstiftelsen, Swedish, US Government and the European Commission.

Håkan Hellström

Håkan Hellström

Head of Operations

Håkan has worked for Netnod since 2000. He is an experienced IT project manager with several years of experience from working at the Swedish Defence with various IT projects. He is responsible for the operations team as well as the daily operations at Netnod.

Christian joined Netnod in November 2018. He is responsible for the Sales & Marketing team and Netnod's product management.

Prior to joining Netnod, Christian held various positions in product management and sales at Tele2, Bahnhof and Teracom.

Mattias Karlsson

Head of Engineering

Mattias “Matte” Karlsson joined Netnod in 2016 as a Senior Network Architect. Before Mattias started at Netnod he worked over 15 years at Telenor/Bredbandsbolaget as a Senior Network Architect.

Mattias has participated in many large design and development projects in Sweden and on an international basis. As well as participating in many Telenor Group projects covering group strategy and architecture.

Mattias Ahnberg

Head of Architecture and Development

Mattias "Ahnberg" Ahnberg joined Netnod in January 2018. Prior to Netnod, he worked in the leadership team for Spotify IT where he focused his efforts on running the team responsible for the global deployment of Spotify’s internal networks and office infrastructure. 
Ahnberg has over 20 years experience in the technology and Internet industry where he has gained a deep technical knowledge of architecting, building and operating Unix-like systems as well as networking and security in large-scale complex environments. On top of the technical foundation, Ahnberg is passionate about change and working with improvements to help create high-performing functional teams as well as helping teams and individuals grow.
