When 26-year-old Tor Arvill started his part-time job at Netnod in 2023, he was still balancing Master’s lectures and labs at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH). Today, just two years later, he’s a full-time Security Analyst — and a great example of how curiosity, initiative, and a bit of serendipity can open unexpected doors.

Following his induction into the Internet Hall of Fame, we sat down with Patrik Fältström, Head of Security at Netnod, to discuss his work over the years, the challenges of interoperability, and how cybersecurity is always a group effort.

At Almedalsveckan 2025, Netnod was on-site and heavily involved in the week’s discussions–from panels and presentations to roundtables and table top exercises. Much of the week focused on cyber threats, robustness, and preparation for an uncertain future. The question here, which Netnod focuses on in all our cybersecurity work, is: how do we move from talk to action?

Good intentions don’t always result in good outcomes. This is especially the case with recent suggestions regarding end-to-end-encryption adaptability requirements for number independent communication services; not only is security an issue, the suggestions themselves go against the design of the Internet, as well as digitization itself.
