CHANNELISLES.NET operates the local web addresses of .GG and .JE and will use Netnod’s extensive infrastructure to complement it’s own worldwide name service network (which currently uses servers in both Bailiwicks, as well as in the UK, Denmark and New Zealand) by adding Netnod’s DNSNODE service which provides DNS service from a multitude of strategic locations world wide using anycast technology. This will enhance service for users of the local web address, provide rapid response to any unexpected demand and provide a significant capacity upgrade.

Nigel Roberts, Chief Technical Officer of CHANNELISLES.NET said today:

“We have chosen Netnod for their outstanding technical expertise and fully trust their competence to meet the high level demands associated with the operation of our supplementary name service for .GG and .JE since they already run one of the most important sites on the 'Net, one of the “root” servers, and also provide the same services to the largest country-code Internet domain registry (Germany).”

Kurt Erik Lindqvist, Chief Executive Officer of Netnod added:

“Netnod is happy to assist the Islands in enlarging their virtual footprint by offering them the shared use of our widespread multi-site anycast infrastructure for full backup support of .GG and .JE names, for the common good of all Internet users. Of course, we are very pleased, after having supported a large fraction of the European top-level domains for a long time, that the Channel Islands domain registry choose us to be their strategic partner for secondary name services.”
