New DNSNODE site in Mexico improves DNS service for the region

Stockholm and El Paso, 16 November 2020 - Netnod is proud to announce the deployment of a new DNSNODE site in Monterrey, Mexico

This is our second site in Mexico, both of which are hosted by our partner, the global network connectivity provider Transtelco. It is the latest in a series of sites deployed in Latin America through our long-standing partnership with the Latin American Regional Internet Registry LACNIC.

“We wish to extend our thanks and appreciation to both Transtelco and LACNIC for the excellent cooperation in this continued series of site deployments,” said Lars-Johan Liman, Senior Systems Specialist, Netnod.

“The site brings improved DNS service to the region for the DNS root name server operated by Netnod as well as for DNS services to ccTLDs and to corporate domains,” added Miguel Alktun, Business development, DNS.

The new site, which is already taking a noticeable traffic load over both IPv4 and IPv6, continues the recent series of deployments increasing the DNSNODE footprint in the Americas. Netnod’s DNSNODE service has more than 70 sites globally.

“The new DNSNODE instance will advance the quality of experience for Internet users in Mexico,” said Max Velazquez, engineering manager at Transtelco. “Transtelco is proud to collaborate with Netnod and LACNIC to make it happen.”

“The collaboration between Netnod and LACNIC has allowed the installation of I-root instances in several countries of the Latin American and Caribbean region, providing greater resilience and stability to the DNS system of our region,” said Guillermo Cicileo, Head of Internet Infrastructure Research and Development, LACNIC.
