Netnod Announced as Founding Participants of New IXP Programme to Promote Routing Security

On 23 April 2018, the Mutually Agreed Norms for Routing Security (MANRS) initiative announced the launch of a new IXP Programme. As founding participants of this new programme, Netnod will help drive a global initiative that tackles the most common threats to the Internet’s routing system.

“Preventing the propagation of incorrect routing information is vital work,” said Mattias Karlsson, Head of Engineering, Netnod. “Working together with the Internet Society, IXPs and ISPs throughout the world, Netnod will help take the lead on making a more stable and secure Internet.”

The IXP Programme broadens support for the primary objective of MANRS, which is to implement crucial fixes needed to eliminate common threats to the Internet’s routing system, such as route hijacking, route leaks and IP spoofing.

“We are very proud to be involved with the MANRS IXP Programme,” added Mattias Karlsson. “Securing Internet routing has clear benefits not just for IXP members and their customers but for end users and the global internet community as a whole. This is part of Netnod’s mission to ensure robust and resilient Internet services and to support the critical infrastructure of the Internet in the Nordics and beyond.”
