How do I order fibre/cross connects to connect to the Netnod switches?

When you connect to Netnod in Stockholm, we will provide the fibre from the colocation of your choice to the two bunkers where the Netnod switches are located. This fibre is included in the price. Also note that the prices include two ports (i.e 2x1GE or 2x10GE) for Stockholm.
In the other Netnod locations, you need to order the fibre yourself.

Why do the Netnod prices in Stockholm appear to be so much higher than at other Netnod locations?

The Netnod prices in Stockholm include the fibre connections from the Netnod switches to any colocation in Stockholm, this means the costs will be higher. Also please note that the prices include TWO ports (i.e 2x1GE or 2x10GE) for Stockholm. More information on pricing can be found here.

What is the Netnod mark-up on the fibre costs?

Netnod uses the fibre monopoly Stokab (owned by the city of Stockholm) for all fibre connections. Our prices are based on a common "port charge" that is the same for a given port speed for all cities. The actual fibre charges from Stokab are then added to the price and passed on to the operators. Netnod does not make any profit on the fibre included in the connection fee.

Why is there a difference in pricing for "inner" and "outer" city in Stockholm?

For Stockholm the fee for connecting to the exchange is dependent on the model used by the local city fibre monopoly, Stokab. Stokab charges based on the distance from the colocation to the Netnod switches, thereby making a distinction between “inner” and “outer” city. As the fibre is included in price when connecting in Stockholm, it follows the city fibre providers fee structure. DWDM systems have been installed at the Interxion colocation centre as well as two of the Telecity colocation centres in Stockholm. The installation of these systems allow Netnod to expand the capacity of the network without buying more fibre which in turn helps reduce costs of operators connecting to Netnod from those locations.

What are the delivery times for a connection to Netnod?

Delivery times from the fibre monopoly in Stockholm are guaranteed to be 10 weeks, but are normally faster. In other cities they are a maximum of two weeks.
